Digital Transformation - DRIMAES

Between January and May 2025, my team and I were partnered to DRIMAES, a tech and mobility company interested to penetrate the Vietnamese two-wheeler EV market. Under the SMU-X programme, I was responsible for researching and quantifying competition, investmentment opportunities and calculations of present values and risks. We set foot in Ho Chi Minh city for 2 weeks, learning more about the local market and major players in the EV industry. To learn more about DRIMAES, visit their linkedin page below

We visited numerous potential business partners to recommend to our business affiliate. We visited Nuen Moto, a small scale EV Bike company in the early stages of development. We learned more about their founders and their business idea and their vision for the brand. I attached a link below to their official Linkedin page.

We also visited the Dat Bike factory. We learned more about their production line and what makes their product so popular in Vietnam. Unlike Nuen Moto, Dat Bike is a more established company in the ecosystem and has an exisiting customer base, an additional layer of consideration when it comes to recommending a business partner for our affiliate. We have also gone to Eboost, a company that specializes in EV charging infrastructure. We had a chance to meet their founder, Stefan, as he shared more about his business journey and his plans for expansions in the future. We also shared a highly informative QnA session over a cup of Vietnamese coffee! To view more about Eboost you may view their official Linkedin page below

Finally, we delivered our final recommendation at Van Lang University. They have been acommodating throughout our study mission and it was a pleasure visiting their campus and working with some of their students. I have attached VLU’s Linkedin page below for more information on the university.

Reflection

Coming on to this programme, I did not expect it to be so transformative and eye-opening. I experienced firsthand how my finance background could be applied to evaluate investment plans, joint ventures and companies using firsthad data gathered by factory visits and surveys. Often times in academia, we can get detached from our work as our primary mode of research tends to be secondary research done through company websites and the like. It is a refreshing experience being able to examine these businesses firsthand and communicate with the founders to learn more about their company and operations. I believe my rexperience in Ho Chi Minh city has depeend my understanding of what I have learned in SMU.
